I throw most of my pots on a wheel and decorate most of them with colored slips, using Asian brush-style painting. Occasionally, I still build pots by hand with slabs or pinching. The pots are fired twice, the second time to about 2350° F.

All the glazes I use are food safe. Despite its delicate appearance, porcelain is very durable and does not chip easily. My pots can go in the microwave and dishwasher but not the oven. Porcelain is very dense and therefore susceptible to thermal shock.
